The exhibition reflects on the contemporary resonance of the world axis—a line connecting heaven, earth, and the underworld in classical cosmologies. Today, amidst posthuman perspectives and global crises, this order fragments: organic and synthetic, material and immaterial, local and planetary intersect in complex networks rather than a singular line. Axis Mundi unfolds across three interrelated levels. The lower level grounds the body and matter, tracing rhythms of nature and pre-linguistic collective memory. The middle level becomes a liminal space of transformation, ritual, and social resonance, engaging migration, memory, and identity. The upper level opens onto a speculative posthuman horizon, where consciousness, bodily limits, digital existence, and the human relationship to nature are questioned and reimagined. These levels are not separate zones but fluid, relational states of experience.

Within the framework of Regionale 26, artists from Germany, Switzerland, and France present a range of media—sculpture, installation, painting, audiovisual interventions, and site-specific works, where art itself becomes both ritual and transformative practice. Evoking archaic, animistic states while simultaneously engaging in cultural transgression, these works reveal the capacity of art to shape perception, memory, and collective imagination.
